Hot sleeping doesn't just come and go. It's there every single night.

And you know how miserable it is.

Some mattress toppers promise a solution. Cool this, cold that. Sadly, most toppers can't back it up with features that actually make a difference.

There's nothing wrong with these toppers — they just don't go the extra mile to actually keep you cool. And here's why: they don't target the real root causes of hot sleep — heat retention, poor airflow, and materials that trap warmth against your body.

Most toppers use one thin layer of foam with a "cooling" label slapped on, or cut corners with cheaper foam that traps heat instead of releasing it. For a number of reasons, regular toppers simply can't compete with how much heat the ThermaCool topper dissipates, or how comfortable it keeps you all night.

First, they do not stay cool. Most are made with lower-quality foam that traps heat as the night goes on — the classic "cooling" topper that feels cold when you lie down, then leaves you sweating by 2 AM. You know how that ruins your sleep.

Second, a cool-to-the-touch cover isn't enough on its own. Every layer needs to be built for airflow and heat dissipation — cover, foam, and base — or you're just left with a topper that feels nice for five minutes and does nothing for your sleep quality after that.

Starting from scratch has its advantages, and the need for a topper built entirely around cooling was clear to us from day one.

This wasn't about hype or promises. If it was, we'd have used non-certified foam or manufactured in the cheapest market we could find.

We wanted something not too hard (it would hurt your body), not too soft (it wouldn't support you), and definitely not something that traps heat. It needed to be just right.

We tested roughly 50 different foam blends and firmness levels with people from all walks of life. Some started off promising. All of them eventually failed. It got so difficult we nearly shelved the project. In the end, we did what experts told us couldn't be done — we engineered our own proprietary cooling foam and built the Dosaze ThermaCool Mattress Topper around it.
